Meet BIFE students who have graduated from this course...
Naomi Faulkner, a BTEC Higher National Diploma student from BIFE who completed her studies this year has been offered a Masters in Trinity in “Costume & Set Design”. Her design ability has also earned her one of the 12 places in the prestigious “Samson Galaxy Young Designer of the Year” competition where she competed against students from Ireland & the UK.
I chose the QQI Level 5 Fashion Design course because I’ve always had an interest in sewing and creating things. Going into the course I wasn’t sure what to expect or even if it was the right fit but I loved it so much that I went on to complete the BTEC degree in Fashion Design & Textiles. I never expected my time here to mould me as much as it did, I was very naive coming from the Leaving Cert and my time here played a huge part in my personal development.
I couldn’t have asked for better tutors, not only did they teach effectively, but also they were approachable. I never really enjoyed school, I just got on with it because I had to, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time in BIFE. I’ve learned some crucial life & social skills as well as practical fashion skills. I was lucky enough to get a summer job straight out of college teaching children how to sew which was such a great experience because you don’t realise how much you’ve learned until you pass it on to others.
As far as future plans go, nothing would make me happier than establishing my own specialty lingerie brand even if I need a day job to support it, I will have my lingerie brand.
